Finmor is the only 40 minutes from the Isle of Lewis where there are many more tourist attractions including the archaeological treasure the Calanais standing stones and the Gearrannan Blackhouse Village. Also Stornoway provides a selection of well known shops as well as small boutiques selling a range of local gifts and hand made items
Eating out
There are eateries on the Island to suit everybody’s taste:
Hotel Hebrides is situated on tarbert pier front, you can enjoy their lunch and bar menu or book a table in their dinning room where you’ll find a selection of local seafood and other local produce. Live music can often be found in the public bar varying from traditional Scottish to contemporary rock.
The Harris Hotel is a family run business in Tarbert, open to the public all year round. You can enjoy a sociable drink and light bites from the bar menu which also offers a take-a-way menu from lounge bar, a game of pool or darts in the public bar and if you are looking for a more formal environment there is a dinning room across in the main hotel which offers an extensive menu and palatable wines. Tigh mo sheaner - a small hall attached to the hotel, regularly offers a celidh dance open to all.
Other venues include the Firstfruits tearoom and the Scoon Art Café which offer a selection of homemade foods and delicious home baking; there is a take-a-way chip shop for a quick fix.
For special occasions, the four star Ardhasaig House offers high quality food and is situated a short walk from Finmor.
